MANIT for students' rustication

final decision by Monday likely ; about 10 students involved


THE PROCTORIAL Board of the Maulama Azad National Institute of Technology on Friday recommended rustication of about 8 to 10 students involved in the brawl at a liquor shop that later on got converted into a murder case owing to death of the Shop Manager.


Dean ( Students' welfare) Dr Shushil Mittal confirmed to Hindustan Times that Proctorial Board had taken decision on rustication of involved students but said that details can not be divulged unless the decision is approved by the Director. When contacted Director Dr K S Panday said that the meeting was held but he had not yet received the the report from the Board.


Sources said rustication of 8 to 10 students - all of them from III rd year - had been recommended during the meeting. These included four students -Nitin Taneja, Suresh Mehta, Vishwajeet and Rahul Sakya- who have already been arrested by the T T Ngr police.Other students of III rd year were also involved in the incident and their rustication has been recommended , but their names could not be gathered.
