Reputation at stake !!!
Once reputed institute for Engineering and Technology-MANIT, Bhopal presently at worst situation!!!
When MACT , Bhopal given the status of NIT in year 03-04 it was thought that this institute will reach to highest level in education by getting grant from centre, But this institute went in the grip of Education Mafia . Now people belongs to this institute feel that it was much better as REC.
Autonomous means PVT Ltd in this institute.Working condition in MANIT at its lowest level.MHRD appointed Mr.M N Buch to submit report on this institute and he mentioned in report that" Everything is wrong here. Now MHRD only can save it."
Present situation of MANIT is because of pact between Mr. Aushutosh Sharma ( Dean-Adm) and biggest contractor of this institute Mr. Sanjeev Saxena.Ex-student Mr. Sanjeev Saxena is having long Criminal Record. India Today having proof that police has registered around half a dozen cases again-est Mr.Saxena since 93-01.One of them is attempt to murder under IPC 307. 
As MANIT gets financial grant from Central so there are irregularities in awarding major contract.In the financial year 2006, total 10 contracts worth Rs.7.5 Crore awarded and in this only Three companies participated in all the tenders. It is to be noted , that Rs.6.75 Crore contracts awarded to M/S S S Construction only and which is owned by Mr. Saxena. As per reports from MANIT all these 3 companies working in interest of each other.Mr. Buch mentioned in report that "there are irregularities in tenders and this has to be investigated in details.It is clear that financial grant given to MANIT not utilised properly and it was main reason behind this all problem.Mr Buch further mentioned that " Lot of things will come out in detail investigation and if institute has to be saved from this Contractor Mafia then strict action required immediately.
Congress party was having lot of interference when this institute was MACT. Mr Suresh Pachouri ( Min. of Parliamentary affair), Member Rajya Sabha Mr. S S Thakur are Ex-student of this college. It is well known fact that Mr Saxena is protected by some Senior Congress Members, bcoz of this he got his sister appointed Librarian in MANIT and wife Aruna Saxena as Proff. against all rules and his close relative Anshu Gupta as Lecturer. Praveen , younger brother of Saxena is President of PG Student of Association. As per Mr. Sharad Kumhre who has earlier informed to Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) that One family is controlling Administration/Faculty /Students and getting valuable tenders.Mr. Buch mentioned in the report that Sharma has done graduation in B Arch and got his P.hd.in Psychology to get promotion.After his appointment as Lecturer in 88 he has got lot of promotion out of turn.
Mr Sharma became the Officer On Special Duty(OSD) as per his choice in the tenure of Mr.S K Jhalani who was the then Chairman of MANIT. Abhay Sharma younger brother was appointed Asst. Proff in Civil Engg.Dept without having Phd. in year 95.Mr Buch has mentioned about this irregularity in very rough language in his report and said that this is the best example of Bhai-bhatijavad.
When MANIT came under control of MHRD, all problem started from then onward and number of vacancies were created and filled by avoiding all rules and regulation.Kumhre has informed to CVC for irregularities in appointment of 65 vacancies during tenure of Acting Director Mr Syan. Thereafter Kumhre 's wife was terminated from institute however Kumhre's family got the stay order from High Court. All this happening in MANIT bcoz it's administration control at Delhi so local opposition not having any impression. If it would have been as MACT till now local administration must have interfered.
Last year lot of reputed companies has contacted to MANIT for campus interview but wife of Saxena, Aruna who is in charge of Training & Placement has diverted all companies to her husbands institutes named as Radharaman Institute of Engineering and Radharaman college of Pharmacy. As per senior faculty member " Saxena's Engg colleges are running on the cost of MANIT."
Mr.Buch said that MANIT is having every thing like Land/Infrastructure and above all the intelligent students but Govt has to clean this institute and take immediate and strong action. So, will the MHRD save this Engg institute before it die?
Central Vigilance Committee on investigation
Generally people believe on Central Vigilance Committee (CVC) for corruption charges, but Mr. Sharad Kumhare is having different experience in case of MANIT. In Dec 06 , Kumhre informed about corruption charges to CVC but there was no action from CVC. When Kumhre wanted to know through RTI act about progress in this matter he was surprised to note that CVC has forwarded his complaint to Chief Vigilance Officer of Indra Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) . It is to be noted that IGNOU not at all connected to MANIT except both comes under direct administration of MHRD.
Kumhre has been informed officially by IGNOU that all his complaint do not pertains to them.
MANIT 's financial report for the year 05-06 categorically mention about irregularities in financial matter but Board of Director- MHRD has not paid any attention to this. Report further clarified that there was Rs.1.6 Crore difference in Cash Book and Books of Account which has been completely ignored .
In the account report of 01-02 said that as per Bank statements there was lot of transaction made without proper approval. Gwalior situated Auditor General ( General & Commercial Accounts) has reported that there is no proper clarification has been given about Bank Transaction as on date which indicate of malpractices in transaction which should be corrected.
MR. Buch ( Rtd IAS) said to clean this institute, MHRD has to take immediate action.Mr.Kumhre ( Volunteer anti- Corruption Organization) - Being administration control of Institute at Delhi hence there is no effect of local opposition. Now SAVE MACT/MANIT.

First of all I congratulate you for your sensitivity to your Alma mater. My name is Sharad Singh Kumre. I am general secretary of an organization "Parakram JanSevi Sansthan", which works for social justice, anti-corruption and other issues related to public interest. My organization strongly advocates transparency in administration and governance. More than two years ago I came to know about the state of affairs at MANIT. One can refer to news clip of "India Today" (Hindi edition, issue 31st October - also available on this "savemanit" site) for a glimpse of my efforts to fight against the education and construction mafia active in MANIT. I gethered a lot of information which exposes the main culprits behind the downfall of the institute. The institute seemed to be on right track when Dr. P. K. Chande took over the charge as Director, about three years ago. As Dr. Chande was a hinderence in the working of this mafia, he was opposed by Saxena/Sharma and their associates at every level. Finally one day an MHRD order (with congress party in central govt.) removed directors of all NITs in one sweep with the reasoning that selection of all these directors (made at the time of BJP in central govt.) was not approved by appropriate authority. Afterwards the mafia raj and the downfall started. Whatever "savemanit blog" is witnessing, belongs to this era. The students are still very talented, but directionless and sometime misguided by few unsrupulous and evil minded people among the faculty members. Many blog readers might be wondering about the silence/anonimity of the faculty on this blog, but it is indeed the case that being in the seat of power this mafia can go to any extent to humiliate/terrorise/punish/blackmail anybody who questions their working. Even the Director seems to be in total control of this mafia and works as per the whims and wishes of the mafia. Despite the prevailing situation, the students are getting placement mostly due to the institute's status of NIT, and their own virtue. But it is sad situation that some students are happy with today's placement situation. The students deserve a much better placement. More importantly, it is a healthy academic environment, a sense of confidence and satisfaction in student life, which matters most. There are indeed many students which are concerned about these issues and happy with the tide of change, but can not come in open due to various pressure tactics on them. Similarly among the faculty members, there are many who want to root out the stigma on the institute for ever. Recent public exposure of the prevailing situation in this institute has given a hope of justice. I have faced many personal and financial hardships in this fight against such a powerful mafia. I am happy to see a group of alumni still caring for their institute. Media is also now recognizing the gravity of the situation. I have been pursuing the case with CBI, CVC, and some other forums for last two years. I do have a lot of evidences about the malpractices in this institute. As of now the mafia is still at the helm of affairs and the administration is still able to suppress a lot of uncomfortable facts and is still misguiding, misleading and miscommunicating about a lot of official enquiries. The recent orders issued by the director (as quoted in the news paper Hindustan Times, 28th October) still does not convey anything against the main culprits mentioned in the Buch report (which could cover just a fraction of corruption prevailing in the institute due to noncooperation of the administration and due to the domain of enquiry assigned to Mr. Buch by the ministry). I do have many papers indicating scams which have taken place here. I had tried to file a PIL even before the scam was out in newspapers, but at that time, the institute administration was successful in misguiding the direction of case and my PIL was rejected at that time. (The rejection of my PIL at that time was celebrated openly by the members of the mafia group by cracking the crackers in the institute premises). A lot of efforts have been made through RTI too. The case is also pending with Central Vigilence Commission. Those among you who are genuinely interested in improvement of affairs of institute, can pursue the case in these directions. Though I have been repeatedly accused of working against MANIT, If you think that I am working in the benifit of MANIT you are welcome to join and strengthen my efforts. If your institute's existence is at stake, the argument of keeping silence for the fear of some temporary defamation is hollow and meaningless, if not criminal.
